Introduction

The INS Brahmaputra Guided Missile Frigate Model project was undertaken by the TCET NCC Naval Wing to showcase the capabilities of the Brahmaputra-class frigates. Named after India's longest river, INS Brahmaputra represents the Indian Navy's formidable surface combatants.

This project enhanced cadets' understanding of modern naval warfare platforms, including advanced sensor systems, missile armaments, and sophisticated combat management systems.

Finishing & Challenges

Finishing Process:
  • Protection: NC dope coating to prevent fungal growth
  • Surface Prep: Multiple putty layers, sanding, and primer application
  • Painting: Acrylic paints with desert camouflage pattern
  • Final Details: Varnish, flags, insignias, and name labels
Challenges Overcome:
  • Hull Shaping: Achieved through careful filing and polishing
  • Material Breakage: Lightweight wood required reinforcement
  • Alignment Issues: Precision adjustments for superstructure
  • Drying Delays: Sun exposure accelerated paint and putty drying
  • Academic Balance: Effective time management and workload sharing
